ABOUT

My name is Julie Tomczak and I am currently a 5th grade Science and Language Arts teacher in Okemos, Michigan.  I started out my teaching career, as a 7th grade Science teacher for three years in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  I love learning with students and I am always up for a challenge.  My master's degree is in Educational Technology at Michigan State University, and I am currently pursuing my doctoral degree in Educational Technology at the University of Florida. In my spare time, I love to exercise, spend time outdoors, and travel.  During my time at MSU, I went on a study abroad trip to South Africa in a program for Conservation of Biodiversity.  I hope to travel more in the future!

TEACHING GOALS

  1. Increasing students' abilities to problem solve and use critical thinking.

  2. Provide an environment in which all students feel as though they have the right to learn.

  3. Incorporate technology into lessons to enhance learning.

  4. Create and provide authentic learning opportunities for students in my lessons.

  5. Challenge learners to exceed expectations and accomplish goals in and out of school.
